Church Leadership
Rev. Phillip Mayberry
I was converted from a life of Atheism at the age of 21. I love the Lord Jesus Christ intensely, and am overwhelmed daily by the Lord's grace and love. I has been married to Heather for 22 years, and we have three amazing children: Adeline, Ava, and Asher. My favorite Bible passage is either John 17, or Psalm 73:22-26... but also Zechariah 3:1-5. I have pastored Covenant for the last 14 years, and am so thankful to God that Jesus has built His church. George Swinnock is my favorite puritan writer, mainly due to his illustrative language and warm devotion. I enjoys hunting, calligraphy, and watching Alabama football with the family. I have written the entire New Testament in Greek and English (that’s the large book on the pulpit that I preach from), and am currently writing the Old Testament as part of a ten-year daily devotional project.
Elder Keith Began
After growing up completely ignorant to the Gospel (as he says, ‘with only myself to blame’), the Lord saved Keith at age 30. Since then he has served as Deacon or Elder in various Churches of the ARP, OPC, and PCA in Alabama, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. He has served as Elder at Covenant Reformed since 2021. Keith enjoys teaching and seeing individuals gain new understanding of Scripture and Reformed Covenant Theology. One of his favorite Bible verses is Proverbs 17:27-28 “The man of few words and settled mind is wise; therefore, even a fool is thought to be wise when he is silent.” Keith commends to others the writings of Puritan Stephen Charnock. Cindi, his wife of 30 years is his best friend, and he credits her with making him better in every way possible. Keith enjoys biking on rails to trails, hiking, animals, and tossing bread to the ducks and geese.
Elder Don Saunders
Don Saunders has been an elder since Covenant was planted in 2012. He was a elementary school principle in his career, and has been married to Jill for 37 years. Don is very passionate about the Word of God, and loves to celebrate God’s grace and mercy. He has a booming voice and a soft heart. He often weeps for joy at the thought of the gospel; that Christ would have mercy on someone like him.
